Scan Results and Planning

 Thursday, March 12, 2026

What a whirlwind of a few weeks it has been! Ezzie successfully finished his 6th round of chemo Tuesday March 3rd with good spirits and celebrated his 4th birthday! this being the shortest summary of what happened, it was really a good five days.

God is so very good. We got some preliminary news regarding Ezzie's scans. The mass was originally 7.2 x 12.2 x 12.5 cm and now the scans show 6.7 x 3.6 x 5.6 cm!! We thank our merciful Heavenly Father for this. We can see it has considerably shrunken and this tells us it has likely originated from his 9th rib. From these numbers, surgery looks like a likely possibility, but more study of the scans will indicate what is the final answer. Monday March 9th, Ezzie was placed on the Tumour Board and his case was discussed with our team, surgeons, radiologists, etc. as to what is the best way going forward. Our answer from that was that the surgeon thought the mass could be successfully removed! This is indeed incredible words to hear, but more questions arose from this as well. Our team doctor said that the part of the mass that's bumping up against the liver could be of concern. We aren't sure as to what extent they meant by that, but more or less, they didn't know if it was a better decision to do radiation first, then surgery or surgery, then radiation. We will learn more information on Friday this week (tomorrow March 13th), when we go back in for clinic and a few appointments with multiple doctors.

In the meantime, we are all home thankfully! Ezzie has really great energy and joy. He looks so happy. We haven't seem him this energetic in a long time. Matt and I are truly thankful to see our little boy back.

Please continue to pray for Ez and his upcoming appointments regarding possible surgery and radiation. We don't know what any of this will look like and it is heavy not knowing. God has a much bigger plan for us and we can find comfort knowing that His plan is in perfect timing. Another prayer would be for our individual needs. Matt has returned to work as much as he can and I'm home with the kiddos again. Days are harder and longer when you don't feel that supported weight from each other when we are all together. God has provided our family with so much care from our community, friends and family. Words don't come close to how grateful we both are to each and every one of you.

"In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory."

Ephesians 1: 11-12
